The Goal

To design, build, and test a self balancing electric motorcycle as a senior design project for the San Jose State University College of Engineering.

 

The Team

We are a group of dedicated engineering students with proven track records of success, and a passion for developing innovative technology.  The multidisciplinary nature of the project requires expertise in mechanical, electrical, and software design. Our strong foundation in mechanical design, mechatronics systems, electronics, and software gives us the expertise to successfully complete a project of this nature.

 

Project SDS and the motivation behind it

SDS is an innovative concept which addresses the needs of future two wheel transportation. Control systems will allow the bike to remain upright while allowing omni-directional travel on spherical wheels. This project is motivated by three major factors:

 

Why be a part of it?

The SDS project will begin in August 2011 and a prototype will be constructed by May 2012. Similar to previous ambitious senior projects from the  MAE department, our success will ensure  media attention. This is an opportunity for you to be a part of a project that will test the boundaries of conventional methods of transportation.
